Missional Outreach Network

Hola! Como estas!

Rebecca and I are doing just wonderful! I have a day full of readers, but Rebeccas day is a little slower today. She has a couple of readers coming in towards the end of the day. Our day started with my reader, Mariano bringing us mate and torta fritas! He specially prepared the tea for us with a dash of fresh mint (which was new). The torta fritas...oh well...no words to describe the sinful decadence of this little treat! He brought a very old photo album full of pictures and history of his family. I envy their sense of family and tradition in this country.

Rebecca had a new reader, Cecilia this morning. It was her very first time to read with the Let's Start Talking program. She was cute! She asked if she should only speak in English or if they were "allowed" to speak in Spanish. She spoke very good English and had lived in Canada for 8 months.

Rebecca also read with a young doctor by the name of Gaston yesterday evening! He was very bright, fluent and charming. He was just on the San Marcos River, San Antonio and Austin just 2 weeks ago. The world is so small! We are now both friends with him personally and on Facebook.

Thought from a reader today: Jesus is a way of life.

Hasta luego
Deb

Debra, thank you for sharing and allowing us to journey with you. You mention how well Cecilia spoke. Many times readers like this are looking for others things, such as friendship or community. Did you sense any of these needs in her?

That is great that Gaston is now your friend on Facebook. The internet now allows us to keep in far greater contact with the readers. I so wish I had been able to do this with the readers that I had so many years ago. I still remember "Jon and Sissy," a great couple in Eindoven, Holland. But I lost track of them. I still want to look them up! So count yourself blessed to be able to do this in an Internet age.

Keep sharing, please--and pictures too!

Here is Debra's picture that she attached above. Debra, is this one of your readers, or someone from the church?
